Mean Teacher

I think I was named the mean teacher for a while because I didn't give my students an extension on their paper. I felt bad for them, but I just couldn't budge. They have known from the very first day of school that this paper was due and I let them know how important it was to get it done early. "You never know what is going to happen, especially in the medical field. You do what you need to do when you have the chance, because you never know what's going to walk through that door." By this I meant, as nurses, you're not going to get an extension to chart or to give your scheduled medications. If someone dies, you don't get a do-over. Harsh, I know, but someone has to teach them.
